Our Advanced Courses
Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (Testing)
-
In this advance program, participants will learn the Standards for Fiber Testing, specific fundamentals when testing Multimode and Singlemode fiber cables, and the rationale of using Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing. This program will also remind participants to observe safety in handling fiber optic cable.
Participants will explore both Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing methods used in the industry. After the course they will be able to trace, test and troubleshoot installed fiber optic cable plants by applying the concepts learnt.
Course workbook and materials for hands-on practices will be provided. -
This program prepares the participants to take the Certified Fiber Optic Specialist / Testing, CFOS/T exam that is sanctioned by The FOA (The Fiber Optic Association).
Participants will have achieved certain performance criteria that reflect they have the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) in Fiber Optic Testing.
-
This program combines theory and substantial hands-on activities. The CFOS/T written assessment is given and graded at the end of the class.
Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (Design)
-
Designed for those who already have a first level FOA CFOT certification and wish to pursue the rewards and recognition of higher level certifications like CFOS/D.
The FOA CFOS/D Certification requires:
Current first level certification (with valid FOA membership)
Attend CFOS/D training course from FOA-Approved schools
Passing the Specialist CFOS/D certification exam
This is a specialist certification covering Fiber Optic cabling design and installation, which includes both premises and outside plants.
-
This program prepares the participants to take the Certified Fiber Optic Specialist /Design CFOS/D exam that is sanctioned by The FOA (The Fiber Optic Association).
Participants would have achieved certain performance criteria that reflect they have the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) in Fiber Optics.
Participants will be taught:
Overview of Fiber Optic Design
Fiber Optic Installation
Planning a Fiber Optic Network
Choosing Components
Design Review
Testing and Documentation
Estimating Project Budget
Case Studies
-
This program combines theory and case studies for different design scenarios.
The CFOS/D written assessment is given and graded at the end of the class.
Certified Fiber Optic Specialist (Home)
-
Designed for those who already have a first level FOA CFOT certification and wish to pursue the rewards and recognition of higher level certifications like CFOS/H.
The CFOS designation is for advanced, well-trained, experienced fiber optic technicians, thus the requirements for these certifications are more stringent than those for the CFOT or CPCT.
The FOA CFOS/H Certification requires:
Current first level certification (with valid FOA membership)
Attend CFOS/H training course from FOA-Approved schools
Passing the Specialist CFOS/H certification exam
This is a specialist certification covering FTTx cabling design and installation, which includes PON networks.
-
This program prepares the participants to take the CFOS/H (Specialist Course in FTTH) exam that is sanctioned by The FOA (The Fiber Optic Association).
Participants would have achieved certain performance criteria that reflect they have the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) in Fiber Optics.
Participants will be taught:
What is FTTx and why is it now becoming important?
The types of FTTx architectures
FTTx Components (fiber/cable, splitters, hardware)
FTTx Design and Installation, spicing, termination and pre-terminated systems
FTTx testing and troubleshooting
Specialized safety requirements of FTTx.
